Back from Mitchieville

I had a fine time visiting the Mayor's realm this weekend. I haven't time to write much on the subject right now, but the live-blogging post over at Mitchieville is the definitive record of the events of the night. Thanks go to the Mayor and Nikita for the hospitality, Reg for some delicious snacks, Mike for the entertainment, and Fenris for his inspirational words and coffees from Timmy's. Thanks must also go to no-show Jay Jardine for funding the bottle of scotch that was consumed.

To find out what happened to Fenris' shirt, go to the extended entry...

Fenris managed to escape, however...

A fun time indeed and it was certainly nice to meet the pride of Chelsea. It was good of you to drive that distance. Too make up for not provding helicopter transportation home I'll ask The Mayor to hold Blogfest 2008 at your place.

I am happy to say that Bruce Gottfred is an essential accessory for any blogfest, and can be rented out for reasonable rates at any time (see contact information above).

Thanks for showing up, Bruce. I second the idea of a Chelsea, PQ blogfest!

That pic is priceless - I love the way the smoke is rolling out of the armpits.

Like they always say: "build a commie a fire and he'll be warm for the rest of the day, light a commie on fire and he'll be warm for the rest of his life..."

I have to say that one of the most pleasant surprises of the evening was walking into the "Main Square" of Mitchieville, casting my around, and seeing you there, Bruce.

I know we likely disagree on some things, have different premises, but I was at first blown away that you were in attendance, and then enjoyed your presence - and even the "debate" as the evening wore on.

Heh.. gotta admit.. I laughed at the wonky chair incident too.

But.. was relived that the Mayor hadn't planted any poison ivy or nettles around where you were sitting.

A "f**ke* up knee or back is much more easily dealt with than nettle stings or poison ivy!

I know I know.. as much as we might share some fundamental similarities in some philosophical ideas, we also "share" some fundamental differences of opinion as well - but on a personal level, for my part, it was GREAT to see you again, and I thoroughly enjoyed the company and conversation.

Hopefully next time, you'll come again, I'll be able to stay longer and drink more and actually show you that I can drink you under the table, and we can insult each other - or not - but whatever, wake up in the AM, and look forward to the next time.

It was awesome for me to meet.. and "re-meet" people I sometimes keep in touch with.. but.. it was really really great to show up and see you sitting there. What a hell of a great surprise!

I look forward to the next time.

Now.. go research "Limited Liability." Let's put on REAL show next time :)

I'll even provide a bottle of Black Bush - from which we both must take 5 good swigs from, before putting on any "debating show" - and after each "point" we make, must take another swig.

There will of course be a back up bottle of Black Bush available.

Unless you have something else in mind.

:)

Cheers, Bruce.

Hi Ian, it was nice meeting you again as well. As far as our 'discussion' went, you're lucky those Foggers interrupted it. I had you locked in an iron cage of reason. As far as 'limited liability' goes, it's a feature, not a bug. But I'll have to explain it to you next time.

A Chelsea, PQ blogfest can be arranged any time at short notice. Just send me a mail if you're in the area.

LOL! A feature, huh? Were you a software salesperson at one time in your life? A spokesperson for Microsoft's "security" systems maybe? :P

Chelsea sounds good sometime! I'll keep that in mind and maybe plan that around a trip to Ottawa when I might be either picking up or delivering one of my sons who live in the Ottawa area.
